Long-Term Exchange
Usually, it lasts one academic year (during the student's junior year), during which the student lives with multiple families in the host country and is required to attend school.
We are accepting applications for the 2027/2028 school year.
Due April 3rd 2026 - 5pm
The objectives of the Rotary Youth Exchange program include:
• Instilling international understanding and goodwill in students
• Creating positive change by empowering youth
• Making lasting connections for host clubs, host families, communities, and the students involved
Estimated Outbound Timeline Process
This section provides a clear overview of the responsibilities, timelines, and activities required for outbound exchange students. Applications are now being accepted for the McMinnville High School Freshmen or Junior year-long exchange program.
Freshman year or Junior Year:
The first part of the Application is due April 4th, 2025
Have/Keep 3.5 GPA
Interview with the Rotary Exchange Committee
Home Interview with all family members
Club Presentation
Selected students will be notified in the last week of May so that they can work with the counselor on classes.
Sophomore year or Senior Year:
Host incoming exchange student
Support Grizz Fest - Rotary Youth Exchange booth
Connect with your school counselor on class requirements
Formal application to the Rotary International
District Application Due Oct 31st
Attend Club meetings and volunteer with club activities
District Training - required or will be dropped from the program
January - Eastern Oregon Trip - find out exchange country
Attend Information Night at Mac High School
Attend/Present to the Club about the country
May - District Training/Conference
June - Final District Training
Junior year or Leap Year:
August take off for your host country
Report monthly to the club on activities, experiences, and updates.
Senior year or Freshman College year:
Present to the Club on experiences - required
Help recruit for the upcoming program
Application Requirements
McMinnville High School Freshmen w/ GPA’s 3.5 or
Multiple Interviews with Youth Exchange committee members
Top candidates are selected by the end of Freshman year
Work with School counselor on class graduation credits
Applications process

day & Weekend long trainings
Eastern Oregon trip with inbound Youth Exchange students
